Moog5050 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) I know there are some others on here like me that have a knife fetish but what is your favorite overall hunting knife. I have several benchmades I love but I keep reverting to Esee. Just bought another for no real reason. You? I tend to like knives with 3-4” blades for general use. And I don’t mean a foldable EDC. I have plenty of those but prefer fixed for a hunting knife. I bought this one on a whim. Have a couple of them from 2.5-5”. Easy to sharpen and should be easy to find when I drop it gutting a deer. Wolc123 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Yes, my Shrade Sharpfinger. I’m not sure just where it is right now. Maybe I’ll start a brief search. Gutted my first deer with an old original Leatherman tool on Saturday. Fortunately, its blade was razor sharp and it didn’t work too bad. Sure do miss that Sharpfinger though. Lil zeek 1

Versatile Hunter Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 My EDC is a griptilian since you didn’t ask I really like my Havalon for quick skinning for a pack out. I’ve been thinking about getting the Saddle Mountain Skinner but I can’t imagine it would replace my Havalon. Moog5050 1
Lil zeek Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 My favorite butcher knife is one my grandfather bought me for my birthday last year (the one closest to the camera). But my favorite knife overall is one that my parents bought me from Idaho. It was hand crafted and the shop was very cool. Everything in there was homemade and out of elk and deer antlers. It cuts through paper very easy but not sure if I want to use it on a deer. Rusty, Bucksnbows, grampy and 8 others 10 1

That's a cool looking knife! The last several years I've just used a small folding Buck. Blade is 3". It holds a sharp edge. Fits in my pack easily. Gets the job done efficiently. I do have more expensive knives. And in over 50 years of hunting I've used quite a few different ones. But I really like those little Buck's. Moog5050 1

Rob-c Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 (edited) Wife's dad gave me a unused buck 119 shortly after we got married , said he bought it then never used it . So I've had it for at least 30 years. And no telling when he bought it . I did buy a new sheath for it in 2014 . Edited September 18, 2024 by Rob-c
mowin Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 I've got some of my dads files from the 50's and 60's. I would love to have a knife made from one of those. Versatile Hunter, grampy and Bucksnbows 3
