They just started to paw at the ground but they all get checked year round. sorry just saw you said mock scrape, but if they like it should be getting used. Larry Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 DSCF0183.MP4 DSCF0183.MP4 This is a mock scrap I made last year. I use code blue Dead Dirt and preorbital gland on the overhanging branch. I also don't make my scrapes till mid-October. I will also put buck and doe urine in the scrape. DSCF0039.MP4 DSCF0156.MP4 DSCF0159.MP4 Lil zeek, turkeyfeathers and mowin 3

NYRturkeycall Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 I don't have any bucks directly hitting my mock scrapes on camera, but they are more prevalent in the areas lately. turkeyfeathers 1 Palma non sine pulvere
grampy Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Had this new little guy come in this morning. I think he is the 7th different buck. And a bunch of doe's too. Funny.....last year I had this same rope in a different spot and they hardly touched it? Belo, turkeyfeathers and Lil zeek 3

But I do think location plays a big part in this. I've made mock scrapes that were not hit at all or very little. Then, like the rope scrape I made last year that saw very little activity. I moved it this year 300 yards or so and it is getting hit by multiple bucks and doe's. Same exact set up as last year. With the same amount of deer in the area. Just a different location. I have seen over the the last few years that deer WILL visit a scrape you make yourself. And then, sometimes not at all. But for reasons only the deer seem to know, location is the key. So if you aren't getting a lot of deer to your scrape, just try moving it a ways, but in the same area, where you know there are deer. It just might make a BIG difference? Belo Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Years of hunting an orchard and fields always reminds me that natural edge scrapes are often almost always nocturnal, but they're still fun to find Lil zeek and grampy 2 Take the "Buy and plant stuff and then hunt private land" Challenge!
