NZ deer season opens next Friday with the SZ opening the following Tuesday. Are you ready? Bows on, crossbows hitting where you aim, rifle/shotgun/ML all sighted in? Clothes treated for ticks? Stands blinds all set?

Here:

All firearms including the ML are sighted in, bow and crossbow are dialed in.

I'll be treating the clothes in a few days.

The wife wanted to go with a burlap set up this year to help conceal her a little more, so we'll be setting that up Sunday then I'll be doing a little still hunting for bear. I'll double check my brush blinds on that property while doing so.

I set up a few brush blinds on public land near where I've seen deer during scouting expeditions. I didn't bother with too many until I have a better feel of pressure.

I have a few still hunts panned for some bigger woods hunting.

Dug out the electric socks and charger.

I'm good to go for deer although I wont be out for another month.  I feel a little under ready for duck season.  This is new to me and i dont feel like ive got a good handle on setting up yet. Mostly because of the beaver situation at the pond im looking to hunt.  Afraid to setup next to water yet as I dunno how high/low its going to be come Oct 12.  Ive got the day off before so will prob do a lot of setup that day.  Also have to get the duck boat out there.

Been absolutely nuts all summer, with so much going on. But bow, crossbow, and rifles are good to go. Stands and blinds all set. Clothes need to be treated with permethrin. My hunting partner has gone above and beyond in my absence, adding a bunch more plots, and clearing a lot of overgrown areas.

I really don't care if I kill a deer or not this year. Just mostly looking forward to quiet times in the woods. A decent buck will only be a bonus.

Only thing left to do is to shoot a few broadheads to make sure they still track like the field points. I might not even make it out the first weekend. Got a few things to do and I am sticking to not pressuring myself to be in the woods at every opportunity. My daughter getting that early season doe is really helping that situation. Not only do we already have meat in the freezer but I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that she got her first deer.

For some reason this year my all washed , dried , sprayed with permethrin, and hung hunting clothes have a stronger chemical odor this year so going to rewash in scent free soap and not re-apply permethrin. It does last through a few washes no?

I've noticed variation in scent intensity across bottles but the smell never stays on the garment after the permethrin application has fully dried. You're smelling it even after the permethrin dries?

Yes, it should last for several washes. I believe the agitation (spin cycle; dryer) does more to remove the permethrin than the wash.
