The_Real_TCIII Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 After 30 years I finally bought a deer cart. My shoulder is all jacked up after dragging for a buddy Monday. Cabelas had one for $99 and a when they rang it up it came up $69, it seems pretty well made. No spokes. Solid tires. It's very heavy but that's alright grampy, cervidchasers, The Back 40 and 11 others 14
Robhuntandfish Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I've used them a few times and it's def easier than dragging. At our land we have a deer cart, a sled, and a trailer for the wheeler. Never know where one is gonna end up. Dragged some out of some nasty spots. Hope to see a pic of one on it soon! Bolt Action Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I have one. From experience, it is still going to be work to get a deer out. I don't know the distance or terrain that you would be using it on, but take it from me make sure that you have the deer strapped on LOL The_Real_TCIII 1
crappyice Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Great for pancake flat land!!!! I have (maybe had now since I'm not exactly sure where it is!) a very similar one-up and over rocks and tree is a PITA but overall it's easier than just dragging. Still like the "taco" method best. grampy Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Our experience is they are great on open, flat land. Steep hills, thick brushy areas, soft muddy ground, not so great. Every drag is different. Hope yours are easier with the new cart Tacks. And also hope your shoulder feels better soon! The_Real_TCIII 1
mowin Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Deer carts are awesome in the right terrain. Same as a plastic sled. Stop on a hill, and you better have ahold of the thing, or it's going to be at the bottom of the hill. One of our first uses of a ice fishing sled was a comedy show. 2/3 rds of the way up the hill, the lead guy lost his footing. Imagine a sled with a deer strapped to it running over two guys in the rear. Yes, I was the one in front. GreeneHunter, Caeden4, The_Real_TCIII and 6 others 9
Arcade Hunter Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Does it fold up enough to get it in the back of the truck with the cover fully closed?

Trial153 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 I like sleds, I can pull em easy enough and then when i get to side by side I just loop the rope over the ball hitch. I don’t even bother winching deer up into the bed of the side by side anymore …i pull the sled right to deer cooler You could leave life right now. Belo Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 i have 2 carts and a sled. prefer the sled unless I have smooth open fields or trails. Anything in the "bush" is a PITA getting the carts over logs and legs and antlers tend to flop out so get some extra ratchets. Used a cart up the side of a ravine in mississipi at night in the rain by myself. Guess how that went? haha The_Real_TCIII 1 "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" Luke 6:31 and Matthew 7:12
dbHunterNY Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 i bought a cart at 90% off from Dick's Last Resort when the flexed liberal muscles and got rid of their whole camping and hunting inventory. It's a Rhino Outdoors cart that is fairly rugged. I haven't used it yet. I bought it mostly for hunting Albany Pine Bush but then never used it. On the farm I can get too close too often with an atv to justify anything like that. The_Real_TCIII 1
The_Real_TCIII Posted September 28, 2024 Author Posted September 28, 2024 These carts are also handy for getting your planter to a potato contest weigh in cynthiafu, Robhuntandfish and grampy 3
