Good friend of mine was successful this morning. They don't have cell service, but got a message to another friends wife that Michael got his moose this morning.  They are in the process of getting it out now, and I'm waiting for a pic.

They were hunting in zone 6.

Heard from Michael.  Hunting was tuff the first couple days. With bad weather coming in later today and into most of tomorrow, he decided to shoot this bull.  Don't know specifics about how far of a shot, it he ran far, or if called or not.

Just got a call.. Monday they had a bull coming in, but the wind swirled. Tuesday, they called in a very small bull to 15yrds.  This bull came to the call from a few hundred yards out and Michael shot him at around 60 yards.  Only ran 30 before dropping.

Don't know much about moose, but looks like a little guy, no?

Looks like lots of good meat.  Moose meat is my favorite, of all the of the wild game meat that I’ve tried, followed by a tie between corn/clover fed WNY whitetail and Rocky Mountain elk.

It would be tough for me to choose between moose tongue and NY button buck liver, but I’d go for the moose tongue most likely because they are much harder for me to come by.

It’s been a long time since I had any and I still had lots of hair back then:

Guessing you are comparing it to the Canadian moose. Maine has a different sub-species called Taiga moose

ahhh good call. told ya I didn't know much haha

Definitely not the biggest, but they seen smaller.

And like @cervidchasers mentioned, not even close to the Canadian moose.

understood. I had moose steaks a few times while walleye fishing in norther quebec and it was delicious and I agree with Wolc that it was some of the best wildgame I've ever had.

Congrats to the hunter!

Not to hijack the thread... but this needs to be documented!

Cool moose!

we probably agree on more than what we disagree on. I like to eat bass, I love venison. I do not think bass is the best and I'm not eating those oysters :)

Just remember the secret ingredient for the oysters : lots of pepper.  Steve Rinella taught me that trick.
