Google the serial number and see what the born on date is.   I’m guessing late 70’s or early 80’s.   
 

I had a .308 like that but it had a lefty cheek piece and safety.  I sold and now it’s  probably worth millions or maybe not.

Recoil is not a problem. Don’t cut that stock for a recoil pad. It will be worth shit altered. 

 

Agree. Keep it stock regardless if you like shooting it or not.
