Enzo at I got our first Chukar together yesterday at Hunts Family Preserve in Lambertville NJ.  Those lessons this summer with @Breaking Point paid off.  It was a going away shot and I took my time with set up and kept the barrel level instead of letting it rise. Tape on my left glass lens adjusted for dominant eye issue.

Upland game hunting is a blast.

Keep shooting, keep working with Mike and keep having fun!!

Remember shotguns are like golf clubs, you need several. Lol.

Yes I am up to 3! I only bought a 10 gun safe…will that be big enough?!

Congrats on the Chukar! Agreed nothing better then shooting a bird over your own dog! I can't wait to shoot our first wild bird over mine who will be 1 next Friday! Who knows maybe that will be the day! I raise chukars and they are a blast and absolutely delicious to eat!

WC are a young dogs friend. You may have to shoot a few that it busts for him/her to realize that its something you want to hunt. After that, you'll have plenty of fun with them. If you want good grouse hunting, head to NH or ME. NY has some good grouse if you know where to look, but those two places have way more than we do.

For sure, I would love to go to either one of those states and or the Midwest states. We do ok with WC where I am, (with my older Griff) but grouse we have not been lucky enough to run into yet.  Lots of miles with no success.  This year will be a different story it's our goal for sure!

You're about the same distance from the UP as you are Pittsburg NH (If you're willing to go through Canada). Both are good, but the UP is probably better. Only problem with the UP is bears and having to go through Canada.
