I wanted to try and locate a couple different spots to set up for deer hunting yesterday, so I headed out chasing turkeys while I scouted new places. When I got home I was looking at the WMU maps and noticed something off. If you are looking at the DEC website for the Saratoga Sand Plains areas, it ways they are in 5T. But, all the maps show it's 5J and 5T is in Washington Co. . So I made a call and the Ranger got back to me this morning. The Sand Plains are in fact 5J, the DEC site is wrong listing them as 5T.

So if you are not sure of something get clarification.

  • nywaw changed the title to Heads Up on WMU maps - Saratoga Sand Plains are in 5J, not 5T.

The man I spoke with said he's told them about the error and they haven't corrected it.

I guess the top brass are too busy handing out crossbow permits for everyone with bad breath instead of making  sure we know where we can legally hunt.:D

I got a crossbow permit and proud of it! And my wife says I have minty fresh breath! Except for in the morning........:talktothehand:

Good catch on the boundaries up there. I don't think I've been in that area. How's it look for hunting?
