Lawdwaz Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Curious in what type and manufacturer you use for getting in and out of your hang on stands? Specifically climbing sticks really as I’m not too big on screw ins anymore. One piece stick, individual three rung etc?
2BuckBizCT Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I'm far from an expert on this topic, but I use these across several properties. Easy to setup and feel sturdy year after year https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/guide-gear-25-climbing-sticks?a=1802577&szc=000&clrc=000&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_medium=pla&utm_channel=pmax&utm_campaign=20844369119&utm_product=wx2*0640063000000&gad_source=1&gclid=cj0kcqjwpp63bhdyarisaoqkatzr6p6b_uagsvsnq7tktvcrnkuuskpjjradrlqz_toha8j92gbl4bkaaigwealw_wcb
grampy Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I have used the individual strap steps in the past. They worked very well. I don't remember the brand name though. Haven't used them in a real long time. I still have them somewhere stashed away. If I can find them you're welcome to them. I think there were eight or ten of them? Only used them for two seasons. And they were always taken down at the end of the season. Caeden4 1

dbHunterNY Posted October 4 Posted October 4 always something I can strap to the tree. I've gotten away from anything screw in. not good for trees, saw chain, or saw mill blades. permanent home setups get cheap heavy ratchet strapped sticks with a life line from ground to above the stand. mobile setups if i can't get my climber to really work for the spot i use lighter stackable individual sticks. some crazy ultralight fancy ones out there now but i don't use them enough to justify spending that kind of money yet.
Bolt Action Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I use the F&S climbing sticks for my hang ons. They stack right up to 20' and strap to the tree. They feel sturdy enough. I'm about 200 lbs with gear and they don't flex when I climb. I set my hang ons to 15' and these allow me to step right onto them. Not sure if they're available anymore, but this set from Primal is similar: https://www.sportsmans.com/hunting-gear-supplies/archery-gear-equipment-supplies/blinds-treestands/treestands/ladders-climbing-sticks/primal-the-double-step-climbing-stick/p/1641244
wooly Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I like the 3 individual piece sets. Mainly because I like to set up in trees with lots of branches below me for that false sense of security if I get a little tipsy they will break my fall, lol. The 3 piece systems let me wind my way around the limbs if I have to if I don't have a straight shot for a straight set of sticks. These fit my budget and my climbing style so that's my vote. I don't have far to pack them in either so weight and stackability isn't an issue for me. josephmrtn Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I use a set of hawk helium sticks for mobile setups. For more permanent hangon sets I use a 25' strap to the tree style ladder system.

Just really wondering if there’s a “new and improved” system I’m missing out on. Lol

Steps on each side of the stick I think he means . It's all I'll use as well. I hate the singles ,It can cause problems stepping onto the stand. Lawdwaz 1

Staggered steps are an accident waiting to happen. Also when your hanging a stand or getting ready to enter the platform it’s way easier to do with both feet evenly placed Jeremy K, Lawdwaz and E J 2 1 You could leave life right now. Jeremy K Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I pretty much just buy what ever is on sale . The last couple sets I bought were like a ladder design. One set should still be at sodfathers house I believe.
dbHunterNY Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Jim Stepp's SteppLadder tree steps were a well hidden secret for bowhunters decades ago. I still think they'd be great for saddle hunters. 20 years ago I really mostly hunted the family farm so I didn't need to be too mobile. I still might get them. Kind of keep forgetting about them now that I mostly use a climber. https://www.wildedgeinc.com/store/p44/build_your_own_SteppLadder.html#/
