Our club is finally  bringing back indoor leagues again . We had a choice of competing in Friday night shoot or a fun / beginner  shoot tonight/  Wednesday’s . Wife and I decided to do the fun shoot, the guy running it wanted some help with guiding the new shooters so we figured why not lend a hand . Archery has really dropped off in participation over the years. Looking forward to doing some shooting .

Shot down at Bullzeye for a few years...it's now FLX and I don't know if they're doing leagues anymore. My buddy who I shot with routinely had a heart transplant a few years ago (as a "young" 50 yr old), and when COVID hit because of all the anti-rejection medication and immunocompromised status and unknowns regarding the virus, we shot the morning after for one year. It wasn't the same as being there with all the guys, not even close. We both loved the camaraderie, the BS and trash talking, and learning from the other folks how to be a better shooter. Probably need to revisit it in the near future.

Next time I see the new owners I’ll ask.

I am always thinking about it but I can't make the schedule work because I have to pick my wife up from work. She may be changing departments and her schedule, then I would be all over it.

I would love to join an indoor archery league, but I play hockey one to two times a week already. I'm pretty sure my wife would kill me lol

I'm in a similar situation,  I used to shot an indoor league on Thursday night but gave it up to play hockey. I would love to get into another league but I already play hockey in a Sunday league, Thursday league , and pick up game on Tues mornings.  I don't know when I could get it in? Any WNY guys know of any indoor shoots let me know, I'd love to get a couple shoots in.

@NYRturkeycallI just realized your call name refers to the Rangers!

Indoor league??  We have an outdoor league that has been running for decades…3-d targets set up throughout the woods, followed by a hot breakfast in front of a wood burning stove.  We shoot early Sunday mornings (mostly selfbows and traditional bows) from January 1 through February/March. When we finish for the year we exchange prizes.  We have had such a great turnout over the years, we needed to split into two groups, about 8-12 people per group depending on the day…and as long as I can remember, the weather has never shut us down!  We even meet up in the evening sometimes to shoot under our lit 3-d course.  Great fun with great people…I love it!!

Now that looks like fun.  I'd need a lot of arrows. They are hard to find in leaves, can't imagine trying to find one in the snow, lol.

Hum… a lot of guys from  the job shot that league ,I think Tue or wed nights , they went to some bar across from Bloomfield HS after . I hunt a couple miles down 5/20 from there .

It was a great league, that first year we participated; learned a bunch and met some great folks. Young lady with a white bow could outshoot most of the guys there used to come occasionally with her brother, a few husband-wife teams, fairly eclectic crowd, including in terms of bows. Fun to shoot! COVID put a real damper on things for us, given my buddy's transplant status, at least until we understood more about the disease.

Funny not funny story. We were shooting one morning when a reporter from the local paper showed up to do a piece on archery. He took pictures of us shooting, but being in the middle of COVID wanted us to wear our masks. No biggie, right? Except that shooting with a mask on invites all sorts of issues, including having the kisser catch and rip your ears off. Anyway, when the reporter left, I grabbed my mask and ripped it off (we were both vaccinated and healthy), maybe swore a bit, then proceeded to shoot. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten to nock an arrow...BIG. BADA. BOOM. End result of this was I upgraded from an Elite GT500 to a Hoyt RX5 Ultra. Not the hunting bow I wanted, but in the midst of supply chain issues, beggars can't be choosers.

Anyway, I'm still trying to figure the bow out. My 3D score jumped ten points, but I've also lost a deer for the first time in many years and my broadheads appear okay on paper, but my shots are almost always high in the field. We think it has to do with string cable clearance and nock positioning. It's crazy how tight the tolerance is on this bow. Anyway, not the point of the thread. It was a great time and everybody should try shooting a league at least once.

Do they still have the video systems?

You shot at a screen with round blunts on your arrows, and the system would automatically sense the impact and score your shot. Forgot what it was called, but 20 yrs ago I used to have a great time shooting that.

I think it is called techno hunt...there used to be one close to where I live, but they folded. No idea where the next closest is. Those set ups are not cheap at all.

Have never shot indoors or a league. I imagine its like the old bowling leagues you have a certain amount of shots and points? Do you compete against one person or the whole group each contest?

Is it all from the same distance?

That's the name of it.  Ya, I remember hearing that they were not cheap.
