I had a very close friend have her golden get lost. She was out back of her house Saturday night and she is near a golf course and event place which was ending a wedding and blew off a big fireworks display. The dog freaked and took off. She tried to find him but no luck. So Sunday a few of us searched all over. Woodlots, developments construction areas and every spot within an area of last sighting. We handed out flyers and talked to landowners, mailperson etc. Neighbors were searching. We plastered social media. We and others searched for 3 days and nights. A lady called from a half mile away about hearing a dog whining in the woods and someone was there searching at 5 am, a friend knew a lady who has a psychic affinity with animals and gave some info and we searched there last night. We were running out of ideas and hope. We had tried calling two drone recovery services. One did not call back. The other was tied up Monday but was there at 7am this morning. In 4 hours they finally found him tucked into vegetation back in some woods. We had covered all outside of that area and had neighbors search and call for him but I think he was so scared he would not come out for anyone but her.

Anyhow I just want to let all of you know if you lose a dog call a drone rescue service first. They are amazing. The team that helped my friend was Skywatch Drone Search out of Verona. I had no idea they were so effective with the thermal imaging!

Been checking in and hoping for a good ending here.  And good to know on the drone as they would be like 5 minutes from my house.

E collars are life savers. My dogs don't go outside without one. Get one with a very loud beap and a very strong shock that will stop them if they start running and train them to respond to the collar. Every yr there is someone around here who's dogs run off. I ask if they have e collars on and they always say unfortunately  no. 😔

E collar as in electric shock or something else?  I'm thinking just a dog collar fitted to put an air tag in it!

They have some that do it all with GPS. Mine just beeps , vibrates and shocks. You can adjust the shock depending on the level  of attention you need.

What's illegal? The shock collar?!? If so that would be another pointless NY law I broke years ago!

Awesome ending to a scary story

I thought I remembered something about them being banned?  Again, not saying I agree with it is it's true.
