This will lock some horns. I've used hunt stand in years past. Just the free app. There wind cone is accurate. Can't get movement predictions free. My buddy paid hunt wise said wind movement spot on. Know noone with red moon. Belive or not has anyone used and believed in these. Worth the subscription.

I use the HuntStand free app for wind direction and it is accurate and very helpful.   I pay extra for OnX and that is worth the money for me, but mostly for the property information.

I am not a Hunt stand fan, Even though I was comped the paid version,  too buggy and too much clutter and unnecessary junk.

The wind feature on Onx is good, as long as you accurately set the correct wind or each stand or blind. It nice to look at the forecast a couple days in advance and it’s also nice to see the wind predictions for there daylight periods.

I don’t pay attention to moon phases, however if you do The adam Hays moon guide app is the ticket. The moon position and phase doenst trump any other considerations and conditions for me so it too far down the list to pay it more than a glance. But the app is nicely done

I use HuntWise with a premium membership, don’t ask me what that includes vs the basic plan though!

The mapping is pretty good. Honestly, I find a lot of mapping apps to be so similar it’s like Chevy vs Ford. I will say there’s not as many layers as OnX but I found most of those fancy OnX layers have 0 data for my areas anyway.

Weather and wind I’ve found to be pretty accurate actually. I think it depends a lot on your terrain but I check it the day before and then again before walking in and it’s pretty good.

As for the movement percentage thing, I was intrigued at first, but in my experience, it’s complete BS. They’re wild animals, not variables in a math equation. I’ve been in IT for 10 years and even I think the tech and algorithms and whatnot in the outdoor industry is getting too far out there. You know your area, you know the deer, you know phases of the season and weather, you know your skills, just lean into them instead of believing a math equation that spits out a percentage.

I love woodsmanship and it’s something I have a lot to learn, but can’t wait to learn it. Read the wind and go get them man!

I can’t say I’ve seen a direct correlation although I haven’t looked for one either. Is it a factor? Maybe, possibly a secondary type factor. I would probably be more in tune with it if I had more time to hunt. I know a lot of folks are big into it. I also notice they seem to be more in the Midwest too. I don’t hear or see a lot of NE hunters being knee deep in that topic.

We used HuntStand. I think it once merged with a NY company, random fact. The latest update is horrible though. I am going to look into Spartan Forge. I messed around with it upon release and I like it. Buddy pays for the premium on Hunstand and shares it with me so I haven’t gone to Spartan yet.

I use onx but I don't do all day sits till Helloween. I have over 10 years of videos that say the best time to be in the woods is that time till the start of gun season. This next week is going to be warm I'm only hunting a couple of hours on Saturday and duck hunting Sunday.

i guess its good to know that wind features do work for some people.... never been my experience though. not with a weather app or a hunting app. just yesterday both were claiming 4mp winds (cant recall the direction). it was definitely more like 10-15 sustained, swirling, and with gusts that cost me a tree...    @cervidchasers said it best - absolutely useless in the mountains lol
