Looking to make the switch from Verizon to T-Mobile for our cell phone provider. Appears to be a nice drop if we make the move....just concerned about coverage.

Looking for input either way

I've had same cell phone # since I was 15 years old, so 25 years strong with Sprint which became T-Mobile. No issues except for a few hunting spots, but based on coverage maps no cell phone would have service there.

If there is one topic I can speak with confidence it is tmobile. Ive owned Metro by Tmobile stores for 14 years (i was the first store in the HudsonValley). Its the prepaid option of tmobile but has the exact coverage.

In the Adirondacks i say att is the best but tmobile has outstanding coverage in NY these days.

I would suggest waiting another month to catch the holiday promotions if you can.

Just to plant a seed most people waste tons of money with the contract companies ATT, Verizon and Tmobile. Now if you or your kids want the latest iphones sure stay with the listed above. However if you use androids or are ok with using say an iphone 12 or iphone 13 you are wasting lots of money especially if you use a family plan.

For example you could pay $160 for 4 lines unlimited with taxes included on Metro by Tmobile and get four free galaxy a15s.

Same here. First year was free and now it's 29.95 a month.   I've been happy with it.

Good thread.  Verizon is expensive, and service at my house isn't great.  As long as I can keep my number, I'm more than willing to make the change.

You can always keep your number sales people are just lazy because it takes a little effort and time on there end to finish the sale.

For any company the requirements are you provide your account number and transfer pin when switching to your new company. For example, verizon you can find the account number on your bill or app. You can generate a transfer pin by dialing #port.

You would then go to whatever company provide this information and its that simple. You almost always get a better deal with your new company when you keep your number.

Also most androids and iphones have wifi calling available so if your house is the only place that is a service issue you will be fine by connecting to wifi and turning this one button on. You can use this any place you have wifi available including other countries at no extra cost.

I became a Team Mobile Man back in April. Formerly got my Monthly/Straightalk $45 dollar card at Wallyworld.

Now,I pay $80 a Month. However,I got for free their Latest Phone-, the 24 whatever and a free Tablet. Comes right our of my checking account each Month.

I also have the option to update my Phone after 1 year or after the 2nd year on Team Mobile.

I have been putting up cell towers for over 20 years and I will tell you that from a performance perspective the big 3 are all pretty equal. Coverage really comes down to where you live. Some carriers have more sites in an area than others. AT&T has good coverage in the ADK's because they have the FirstNet contract with the government to provide coverage for first responders and E911 coverage.

Personally I change providers every few years because the competitors will have offers to get you to switch. After a while they all start adding new "charges".

Your friend Big Chris is a customer of mine. I have a crazy memory so when he came in one day it clicked in my mind from when you posted a picture together shooting in Florida or Warwick.

Nice guy, definitely caught off guard when i asked if he knew you.

$80 is way to much for you to pay but if your happy your happy.

Yeah Chris is a good Guy. Plenty of Brooklyn Stories. I worked with him at Wallyworld.  He hunts also- but only Pheasants.
