Gonna be warm.  I may skip till at least Thursday high 50 that's better otherwise I gotta get it to butcher. No deer fridge here. Good luck guys. Plus big cornhole tournament all proceeds go to honor flight. Being a combat veteran it is a priority to attend. Plus I love to play cornhole.

I’m up there now and ready to hit it hard in the morning.  The next couple mornings are supposed to be pretty cool and I’m hoping to see  some deer in the hardwoods feeding on nuts.  I’d be real happy with a big doe.

Im very well covered there.

My mother in laws best friend up here is just 20 minutes away (in Harrisville), and cuts them up and has a big walk in cooler.  They’ve done about a dozen so far this year for others during anrchery season, plus a couple of bears.

I used them for a doe a couple years ago and they did pretty good.  Last year I didn’t bring any for them to butcher but they gave me (10) deer tails.  That allowed me to make plenty of bucktail jigs, which was good because I only got two deer myself back home.

I’ve also used Nolt’s  down in Lowville and they really do a stellar job, and are very reasonable priced.  That’s a much further drive for me though, about 45 minutes away.

I was out this morning. I had a widish 4 come out of the wood line then back in. At first I thought it was a 6 and might have punched my either or tag of it was. I don't want to burn that tag before the cabin trip, but for a decent 6 I might have.

Still seem odd living up here at the base of the ADK's. I'm still going to enjoy the cabin trips each year and hunting the big woods for a week though.

I hesitated on a big doe at sunset tonight, because I wasn’t 100 % sure she wasn’t a spike on the frontal view.  I knew she wasn’t, when she turned broadside and revealed the largeness of her body.  By then my chance had passed though, and I was not able to get off a shot.  Mature does with fawns are exponentially tougher than mature bucks, to get a good shot at, after they see you.

I don’t think she’ll give me another chance this week anyhow.  I’m hoping for a dumb buck tomorrow morning.

There definitely a lot more deer around my spot up on the NW corner of the Adirondack park this year than there was last year.  I didn’t see or hear even one in (9) days of hunting then.

The problem was, there was quite a few acres of standing corn within a couple miles on both sides last year, so I’m sure that’s where all the deer were holed up.

None of that this year and I’ve already seen two deer yesterday and heard at least two today.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to at least get a shot at one over the next 7 days.

I think I was winded by one this morning.  I Thought I could hunt the edge of a ravine and let the thermals carry my scent up and away.  No such luck, because I heard warning snorts down below, and pretty close downwind.

We raised $1000. Didn't play very well. But it was a win win for everyone who participated. I won the 5050 and donated it back. Great weather great day overall.
