Versatile Hunter Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 (edited) I started my first HuntFish journal last year and I’ve enjoyed returning to the compilation of my outdoor highlights. I meant to document the special moments this year too but I never got around to it. I think I’ll get some value out of a retrospective as the year comes to an end. I hope you enjoy. Versatile Hunter Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 My first taste of fly fishing came last fall when I fished the Ausable in the Adirondacks. I had a blast, hooking and fighting several fish but walked away without landing any. I had to wait until early this spring to land my first trout on fly in the Esopus. New outdoors obsession unlocked. Robhuntandfish and nywaw 2
Versatile Hunter Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 I bagged my third turkey in as many years in my public land honey hole, this time with a 20ga. This was my best turkey hunting year, having the most encounters and passing up multiple shots at younger Jakes (and blowing it on 3 other mature Toms in what I hope will become future honey holes). The breakthrough came as a result of discovering the secret to calling in a turkey - move! My calls are amateurish at best, but forcing gobblers to pinpoint calls that emanate from multiple point sources proved irresistible to them. Otto, nywaw and Chef 3
Versatile Hunter Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 (edited) I floated the Delaware on a steamy day and landed this guy. Any fish pulled out of this wild fishery is a veritable trophy. Edited November 8, 2022 by Versatile Hunter Otto 1
