This is on my todo list, bought the cheaper Thor LT now just have to figure which gun to put it on after the deer season is over

anything from a 222 and up. I would recommend going slightly overkill, due to shooting in the dark, and using electronic optics. There is more room for "error" with screen lag (very very minimal most times). but you also shooting through an entirely different scope and in a nighttime pitch black scenario. In case your off your mark slightly with a strong willed coyote, your chances at expiring him become easier. Like a 243 25-06 or even a 6.5. If you're chasing fox, id stay to the smaller side, unless you don't mind what they look like lol

What is the fin on the grip of the AR?

When we use to go at night we used shot guns at close range , one held the spot light the other shot . I really need to get back in the game .

Most probably IMHO Stupid NY safe act work around requires the fin..no one knows if it will hold up in the court but we do our best with what we can

The Fin is to make this a Non pistol grip (Featureless Safe Act compliant)

We used to shoot them with just the Moonlight and snow backdrop with shotguns and buckshot.  It was a blast

Yes because logically the rifle is sooo much safer now that you can't actually hold the grip.   So stupid.

January was the hardest month ever for me to get coyotes killed. I only got out a half dozen times but I could barely even get ears on them. They just didn’t want to cooperate. And as most probably read my son and a few other things kept me from the coyote nighttime fun all of February and up until the other night. I got a couple free nights from the hospital over the weekend and Tuesday night, night before surgery 3.  My brother and I went out to clear my mind a bit. Made 1 set each night and ended up killing 1 both nights, same spot 3 days apart. Both males, daytime pic was recovered during daylight the next morning, weighed 38lb.  And the other was a 44lb male. He was an outsider following a 4pk. The only one that would cooperate to within comfortable gun range. Let my brother kill both.

glad to see somebody got a few down!!  i  had a similar experience, but without any success lol. I barely got out and by the time i did i barely heard anything at all, let alone saw anything.

this year was a bit different for me since i was looking to tag a deer for the first time (also unsuccessful) and that resulted in me missing out on the part of the season when i normally have success with coyotes. i delayed getting out until after gun season because i didnt want to spook the deer from the property, and then by the time i was ready to switch gears it seemed like i had missed my opportunity. i normally get out for some night hunts most frequently in the fall (come this time of year im once again trying not to spook anything, but now turkey).

I guess i am a bit opposite from most, and maybe its partly due to me eating tag soup with the deer, but i'm pretty bummed about my choice to prioritize the deer since i really missed those fall nights with lots of action calling in some coyotes. so I probably will wind up prioritizing them next season. the good news is, not many are hunting or trapping them by me, and i had plenty audible and on camera, so i have that to look forward to this fall.
