Otto Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I usually walk into my tree stand from my house. But this year I am going to use my UTV to get to some of my further away stands. How far do you park your ATV or UTV away from your tree stand do not disturb your hunt?
2BuckBizCT Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) I’d be terrified to drive into the woods. I guess it’s different on a farm if they are used to it. Anything under 1-2 miles 45-60min walk in doesn’t seem worth driving Edited November 2, 2024 by 2BuckBizCT Otto and Belo 2
mowin Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Depending on where I'm hunting, I've parked within a few feet from my stand to a couple hundred yards. Breaking Point and Otto 2
will12785 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Bow hunting I wouldn't get within 500 yards. Rifle you could probably get pretty close as long as you have a good tail to approach from that the deer won't be on. Otto 1
Moho81 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 My place they are so use to wheelers. Tractors etc in the woods all year round that I don’t think they really even give them a second thought. With that said I’m usually a few hundred yards away at a minimum and I make sure I don’t park it where a main run is. Try to tuck it out of the way somewhere that they normally don’t travel. Agree 100% , the deer need to be used to atv noise etc. Edited November 2, 2024 by Rob-c

Redneck4Life Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Or there used to it dropping off food. And they scatter for a few minutes then right back to same spot. Otto and Rob-c 2
Otto Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 I think I will only do this a few times this season. I drove to within 100 yards of the the stand I sat in last night and parked it downwind of me about 100 yards away. I don’t think it disturbed any deer movement, but I was thinking about it while I was sitting there. Redneck4Life 1
Redneck4Life Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I don't think I should say this here. But a few years back during muzzleloader I was riding my 4wheeler up to my hunting spot seen deer cross in front of me off logging trail bout 70 yards out. Left four-wheeler running got off hit the woodline and killed one of those deer. I think there curious creatures of habit.

This is me too. And I always make sure it can't be seen from where I'm hunting. Getting to some parts of our property, if we were to walk across the fields, it would blow off any deer out there. If we ride the wheelers, we can drive fairly close to them, and they just continue feeding.
Teamhoyt Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Usually 200 yards ish. If my 6 year old is with me I've drove to the blind. Especially in gun season, doesn't seem to matter. We've had deer sniff the utv 5ft from our blinds lol grampy 1

Agree where they are used to it. But driving into the woods at 430am for the first time in history is a no thx. Walking is fine (once healed).
