blackbeltbill Posted November 9 Posted November 9 My Father taught me these Tactics to get a Pheasant to Flush up while Afield with no Hunting Dog. Like at 6.35am today by the Way. 10/10- Walk 10 Feet and stop for 10 Seconds- total silence. And repeat. Has worked many times over the years. Kick the Brush,Tree Blowdowns,Briar Patch ,etc and get ready for a Cackling Rooster Pheasant to Explode upwards. Answer the Clucks. That is why,I make sure to be afield at Suntise. The Rooster Pheasants will call to eachother. I make a good Pheasant Cluck with my natural voice and a Rooster Pheasant Cackle as well. Sometimes they come closer. Move in fast for a Flush. Throw a Rock or Limb where a Pheasant has Landed or last area you saw him walking. This works surprisingly well. And what Chris used to do down in Long Island when alone . Walk with a long Stick scrapping the brush on a grass woodsroad. Has worked for Chris. And " Drives". Minimum- 2 hunters. 3 is better. Walk down in a straight line a good 15 feet from eachother. Ghosting-- Done by everybody with or without a Dog. So this morning if another Hunter is there with a Dog. I will hunt another area of course and keep my eyes, ears open for some shots. If the Bird is missed and Flys my way--- Well!! And if the Pheasant lands and,I see where,I am racewalking to the area to Flush him up. Alright,I have to leave in 10 minutes to be there at Sunrise- 6.35am. ABBEY is still healing up. Just up to me this morning. Later. Joe T and Lil zeek 2 Take The Multiple Use Area Challenge.
