Caveman Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I’m looking to buy a center fire lever action in the Buffalo area. I’m not picky on make/model, but preferably am looking for a .30-30 or .35 rem. Let me know what you have and how much you want.
Larry Posted November 9 Posted November 9 There not cheap anymore you can't go wrong with a 30/30 a 35rem is better but ammo is harder to find. I hunt with a 444 Marlin but I reload. There is the 350 legend and there is always the 45/70. Go with the 30/30. LET EM GROW 1
Caveman Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 Thanks Larry. Unfortunately nothing is really cheap anymore. I’m looking for something fast handling with open sights to carry while still hunting brush. I figure a .30/30 or .35 rem should fit the bill. I reload, so I’m not too concerned about availability.
Moog5050 Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I absolutely love my Henry 30-30. Find one. You won’t regret it. Light small and very accurate - and very nice wood too. corydd7, Splitear, Caeden4 and 1 other 4
Moog5050 Posted November 9 Posted November 9 And the lever revolution shoot great from it. Adds more useable yds. Robhuntandfish 1
Caveman Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 (edited) I was looking at the new Henry side loading .30/30. They make a big loop model too. Since the Henry is a side eject, is the receiver drilled and tapped if I ever wanted to add a scope? Edited November 9 by Caveman

GreeneHunter Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I've been shooting my Winchester Model #94 30-30 for over 50 years ... never let me down ! Unfortunately they were just Top Eject so no scope ! Just Sayin

I use it up north when I am still hunting. I have a 2.5x scope on it. Light and short and quick on the target. NYBowhunter Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I use my dad's rem. 35 lever, it's just about 60 years old. Love the action and compact size as it is very manuverable in the stand or taking it for a walk. Robhuntandfish and GreeneHunter 2

Go with the 35 then. I use 200gr ftx's in my XP100
Mike103 Posted November 10 Posted November 10 If you can’t find what you want used. I would highly recommend the Ruger made Marlin rifles over other choices. Ruger really did a great job bringing these guns back. Extremely well made. Fantastic fit and finish. Would make the old workers from CT Marlin proud. Pricey though. The 336 in 30-30 is almost 1,300 bucks list price.

I won the same rifle at a sportsmen raffle. Haven't shot it but man what a cool rifle. Good luck to you Caveman.
sbuff Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Been looking for an 1895 gbl myself seems every month the price goes up
