Check #2 (Sunday) yielded a big male fisher, 2 prime coon, a few small muskrats (only have 3 rat sets out), and a possum.

Got all my fur put up and chopped up some of carcasses for bait…the chickadees like the fat…everything else gets put in a hole I dug…I keep the skulls and I kept the glands…and will eat some of the beaver and muskrat (I’m having bobcat for dinner tonight).

Very rainy last night…I’m always surprised on how the canvas doesn’t leak…I have several very nice modern tents that leak! Lots of owls talking all night!

This morning’s catch included a fat sow coon, another possum, a muskrat, and a skunk (that sprayed).

I put everything up and spent some time cleaning up the feet on the fox, bobcat, and fisher…I skin out the claws on most of the animals I catch.

I did some scouting on a new area and set a few more traps.

I’m anxious to start trapping the beaver in the pond next to me.  I heard a big tree fall last night and checked it out this morning…busy beavers.  I have a couple otter sets out that could catch a beaver…I don’t want to be stuck skinning beavers all night so I need to make sure I don’t have too many beaver traps out at one time.  My wife is going to visit for a couple days next week, and my plan is  to have some fresh  skinned beavers in baggies ready for her to bring home and put in the freezer… I can put them up later.  I do plan to board a couple at my camp but I need to improvise on the board…maybe I’ll put it on a hoop…the fleshing and boarding process is time consuming for me…but satisfying!

Looking forward to setting a new trap line tomorrow.

Happy Veterans Day!

That's a huge fisher! Is the bobcat as good as they say it tastes?

It's not bad,I find  mountain lion has a better taste but bobcat is a bit more tender muskrat and coon is a bit stringy, beaver isn't to bad
