Doebuck1234 Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Been talking to cousin and both debating on getting a climber to move around a little more if we decide to.Have no clue where to start looking, what's recommended for quietness/comfortable?what does everyone else use? Splitear 1
Splitear Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 I’ve had my Summit Goliath for probably close to 20 years and I still love it. Comfortable and easy to use. I’m sure there are other solid options, but after all of these years I could hook and climb with it with my eyes closed. Doebuck1234 1
Belo Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 (edited) I hunted almost exclusively out of a climber on public down in Mississippi and I loved my summit viper sd. I had first bought a cheap steal field and stream to hunt Darien and it's just not even close and borderline dangerous. Summit is great and the most comfy stand I've ever hunted out of. You should practice though, climbers can be tricky and you need to learn the trees will generally shrink in diameter as you climb so you have to set your platform right. After 2 years I was a pro and could shimmy up most trees no problem, but I always pre-scouted or if it was a new tree I would only hunt it in the afternoon. This will be a next season thing so plenty of time to practice.Hunt a small piece of private and plan to add a few ladder stands but want to add climber to the arsenal aswell.Would be nice to have one handy incase decide to hunt a specific spot and don't want to throw a stand there.Or if decided to hit public land also Belo 1

Swamp_bucks Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Go climber or high end light weight hang on and sticks. You can get into way more trees, no longer looking for the perfectly straight tree. Can be in the tree you need to be in. escpen 1
Rob-c Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I have a summit titan and love it . Its a big ol stand, and the heaviest of all the aluminum summits but it is so roomy and comfy for me . Ive killed a bunch of deer out of it . Doebuck1234 1

It was comfortable to sit in.

If you are going to put any amount of miles on you will need a good pack system ,imo. There are a few companies that make them just for treestands. I overheat quickly , so already use the same Mystery Ranch pack that I use to elk hunt everywhere I go. It contains my blanket for my legs, vest, warm jacket, and all the rest of my goodies. I'm guessing around 20#s. When I'm using my climber I strap it to my pack and it makes the trip comfy. Much more comfortable than the cheap straps that come with them. biggamefish 1
NYRturkeycall Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Depends on what you want to spend. I've heard a lot of great things about lone Wolf but the price is out of hand. I love my summit viper for all day sits with the modifications I've made (both of mine have the third stand bow holder, foot rest, grip tape on the platform, and stabilizer straps, my viper has ebay army molle straps (I got rid of the waist kidney belt because of the fanny packs I use), the hazmore seat and lumbar cushion, and a modified fanny pack that I zip tied to the right side as a side bag). For anything up to 3 or maybe 4 hours It's my summit openshot... Insanely light but sacrificing some comfort. And all I do is bring a fanny pack with the necessities and when it's really cold, another hand warmer/fanny pack that I can split bare necessities and snacks in. Let us know what you end up deciding on and how you like it! Edited November 11, 2024 by NYRturkeycall Doebuck1234 1 Palma non sine pulvere

I suggest when you buy any climber if you are going to be moving and walking upgrade the straps. It is a game changer. NYRturkeycall, Ncountry and ATbuckhunter 2 1
