mowin Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) Got a few pics of this guy, but only at night. This is the best body pic. He's a big 4pt. I'm leaning towards him being old and on the downhill side of life, but I suck at aging deer. Thoughts? Edited November 14 by mowin

dbHunterNY Posted November 14 Posted November 14 not the best picture but where we are. 3.5 yrs old IMO. neck too deep and to heavy for 2.5. just doesn't have antler and body size of 4.5 yr old, even for here. on the small side for 3.5 yr old antlers wise too but nice bucks stand out and get lots of pressure around here. if you'd shoot him best of luck. hope you get the opportunity. mowin, 2BuckBizCT, NYRturkeycall and 1 other 2 2
cervidchasers Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Nah young one..shoulders are smaller than hind qtrs and back too straight mowin 1
E J Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) I could be wrong but I would guess a big bodied 2.5 yr old Edited November 14 by E J mowin, Lil zeek and cervidchasers 2 1
cervidchasers Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Not every buck at 3.5 ends up making P&Y or B&C but I think that buck is only 2.5 at best mowin and Larry 1 1
grampy Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Everything I see, points to a good and healthy two year old. mlamm24 and mowin 1 1
mowin Posted November 14 Author Posted November 14 I think I'd take him if he was older, but if he's only 2.5 I'll pass. We don't get many 2.5 here with that beam length or spread very often. cervidchasers and grampy 2
phade Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Your day photo really helps IMO. IR creates really weird scenarios where deer are over and under aged. It can make racks look spindly, or it can create the illusion of definition that isn’t there in the body (shoulders and chest). Day pics remove that. mowin 1

Both pictures are for the same cam, but that one doesn't take very good night pics. Both are HD pics.
NYRturkeycall Posted November 15 Posted November 15 (edited) To me those pictures are night and day, pun sort of intended. The night time picture makes him look bigger in the body and shoulders almost was a bit of a paunch to the belly, but the daytime picture really shows he's a younger one- No hint of a sag to the belly, appropriate size neck, moderate shoulders . I would say 2 and 1/2 to 3 years old. Either way, he's a shooter in my opinion. Good luck, Hope you can bag him. Edited November 15 by NYRturkeycall cervidchasers and mowin 2 Palma non sine pulvere
