NYRturkeycall Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I'm putting this in the deer section because it's related to deer. I recently noticed that some of my older I guss you can call it muted camo realtree pants show up darker on my trail cameras, And some of the newer realtree hoodies I have with the face gator built in that have a touch of a shinier Sheen to them show up like blinding bright on my trail cameras. Do you think deer can actually see the difference in the sheen? Palma non sine pulvere

Do you think deer can actually see the difference in the sheen? UV brighteners in the newer camo, also what do you wash hour hunting clothes in ? Most laundry detergents have UV brighteners in them. Sport wash is great at reducing and not adding the brighteners to hunting clothes . And yes deer can see it . biggamefish 1
biggamefish Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 @Rob-c you nailed it. I have walked past trail cameras with a sweatshirt that I wash as hunting clothes and then with a regular sweatshirt normally washed and you can see the difference. They say that deer can really.notuce the uv spectrum Rob-c and grampy 2

I always use scent killer gold and do two rinses. That's the weird thing. Absolutely no UV brighteners at all, hunting detergent only. It's just so crazy how much of a difference there is because of the polyester material they use that's shiny. Why would they use that if deer are more sensitive to it? And this is real tree brand stuff not knockoff crap. Edited November 15, 2024 by NYRturkeycall Palma non sine pulvere

Nomad Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 It’s a bit long but very good, well worth the watch to answer your questions.
DirtTime Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) All my newer RealTree clothing is water repellent. The chemicals they use make me glow like a ghost on my trail camera in the dark. I've tried UV killer on them with zero results. I'm sure they see it differently, but I cannot say for sure if it's the clothes or me that spooks them walking into my spots in the dark. Yes the clothes would have a glow. Even my red light made them look super bright in the dark. None of my Mossy Oak is treated with anything and it looks super muddy with the same lights. I'm pretty sure it's the chemical they use at RealTree because an older pair of pants don't do it nor do my sweatshirts. I also have a pair of RT pants I can't use hunting because they smelled like chemicals when I bought them and still smell 3 years later. That pair of pants have been washed a ton in our regular laundry soap, dryer sheets, worn camping in mud and rain, and that smell is still there.
biggamefish Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Shiny like fishing lures, they catch more fisherman than fish! NYRturkeycall 1

Maybe get some of the atsko uv killer and soak em for a couple days . DirtTime, SportsmanNH and NYRturkeycall 3
