Mattypotpie8s Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 Look out rats Bucksnbows and corydd7 2
Mattypotpie8s Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) Traps came! Took em to the car wash & now the coni’s are sitting in some hot dawn water. Do you guys wax your water footholds (beaver coil springs & 1 1/2s for rat floats & pocket sets)? I didn’t wax my beaver foot holds last year and they were fine.. Water Rat Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I wax all my footholds , never the connibears. Mattypotpie8s 1
Mattypotpie8s Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Got the 110s out today, got 3 just setting! Put my first one in, moved a few feet, got started on my second & SNAP heard the 1st go off. 330s in the logwood & putting up my 3 rats now Water Rat, GencountyZeek, Stubborn1vt and 8 others 11
Mattypotpie8s Posted December 11, 2024 Author Posted December 11, 2024 Still putting up some fur! Rat trapping was really fun but cut short by the weather after just 2 days, got 9. Might get another crack at em, hopefully. Caught a fox the other day in a hay set baited with muskrat. Broke a little ice and put a 330 in yesterday & it had fur in it today, my first conibear beaver. IMG_1077.mov Otto, Belo, Water Rat and 9 others 12
Mattypotpie8s Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 Beav #2 in a different set. Am I getting these back catches because of the regs? ( 8” off set parallel trigger). I’ve been setting with the trigger up if that makes a difference. Red, SportsmanNH, Bucksnbows and 2 others 5
NYRuthunter Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Yep ,worthless regs. Mattypotpie8s and Belo 1 1
Belo Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Just got my stuff out last night. Spent 30 minutes trying to find my box of footholds. Turns out I put them in the nice sturdy box my chainsaw came in and forgot about it. Getting old is funny. I'm still organized, but forget about what I did with my organized stuff. Always late to the party because of deer season, but plan to get sets out hopefully next week for coon and yotes. Someday when life slows down I'd like to get after some beaver too. It’s all fun but playing around in the water and mud for rats and beaver is a blast. Only downside? Beavers are heavy lol Water Rat, gaberdeen and Belo 2 1
gaberdeen Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Our season open in NJ on the 26th. You have to have won a beaver permit by lottery which I did. Scouted yesterday and found a river with good beaver sign. It’ll be my first attempt. You can only set 5 traps total. I have 4 Belisle 330’s and some cable restraints. I’ll have to decide what will be best for the sets I make. Enjoying following your thread. Mattypotpie8s, Bucksnbows and Water Rat 3
Water Rat Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Hey Mattypotpie8s…… I hope you relocate the Wood duck box. I looks like a great box. 👍🏼 Bucksnbows 1

Yep I’ve found quite a few so I have a few different options. Not sure how many others will be targeting the same areas so I wanted to be able to move around if needed. Bucksnbows 1

There’s beaver there too but can’t set for them, too iced up. There’s a cross over there that I’m guessing would be a 100%er if it was open water. Got 1 customer on the walk out Redneck4Life, Belo, Bucksnbows and 1 other 4
