mowin Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 @sbuff. He hooked me up with some ML components for this yr. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet in person as our schedules didn't match, but I grabbed the stuff from his house this morning. Felt like a porch pirate pulling into his driveway and grabbing a bag of goodies then leaving, lol. Went to the range afterwards and tested some out. Wasn't the best conditions, 25 mph cross winds from right to left were not helpful. 1st shot was high and little left. Caulking that up to a clean barrel and the wind. 2nd shot I waited for a break in the wind and hit the bullseye. 3rd, was a tad high, but a bit left, again I believe the wind had a part in that. Thanks Steve, greatly appreciated. After the holidays, lunch is on me. Bolt Action, cervidchasers, SportsmanNH and 6 others 9
sbuff Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Glad your on paper ,now add some meat to the freezer . I'm a huge fan of the 300gr non mag xtp pushed at ML velocities. That's a dead deer all day long cervidchasers and mowin 2

Not going to fully clear the barrel, just put a dry brush and couple dry patches and see what they first shot looks like.
Splitear Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Fouling shot is likely to be off. Thing is, unless you miss and get a follow-up shot, any shot you take while hunting will essetially be a fouling shot from a clean barrel. Good on @sbuff for hooking you up, I hope you have some luck. DirtTime and mowin 2
sbuff Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 You could always fire a primer or two if you wanted to foul the barrel. I always site in with a clean barrel as my first shot is always from a clean one . DirtTime and IM Hooked 1 1

I just want to clear out any oil or crud that might have accumulated down in the breech. Even so, my first shot is always a little off compared to the 2nd and 3rd. Not enough to make a difference for hunting though. mowin 1
