2BuckBizCT Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Soto to Mets $765 million. Glad it’s not the Red Sox Stubborn1vt and grampy 1 1
corydd7 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 As a Mets fan I'm torn. Great to see him choose mets over yankees who offered pretty much the same money. That said I'm not a fan of any player taking up that much payroll. Ill take three good players over one great player. Hopefully Mets go get a top starter (Burnes) and compete with the Dodgers. 2BuckBizCT Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 I wanted the Red Sox to get Teoscar, but now that Soto went to Mets it sounds like Dodgers will keep him?
grampy Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 The Mets can have him, along with the money burden for the next 15 years. Now the yanks need to spend the money they were willing to dish to Soto for some good arms, infield, and decent hitting. I think the price for Soto was way too high for ANY single player. Moog5050 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I can't believe any player is worth 3/4 of a billion dollars. Just insane. grampy and Doebuck1234 2

I have a buddy in the medical field and he always says doctors should get paid like this instead of athletes. But, to me, it's supply & demand. How many cardiologists are in the world? a million of them? or 500,000? idk the answer, but anyway, how many guys in MLB had an OPS over 1.000 last year? two of them. So that's the supply and demand piece- an extremely rare talent. Then factor in the business side of it- jerseys sold, tickets sold, concessions sold, TV deals, etc. That's why I'm happy college athletes can finally get a piece of the pie.

Moog5050 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Had I known this was the future of MLB, I would have tried harder to work my way out of my o batting average slump in little league. lol 2BuckBizCT, Outdoorstom and grampy 1 2
Water Rat Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 He sure is an upgrade over Sterling Marte. As a life long Mets fan , I’m glad Cohen has deep pockets. Reminds me of the Yankees when George was the owner. Maybe now we can buy a championship. Hope we get some pitching and resign Alonso. Let’s Go Mets. 2BuckBizCT 1
