Got all restrictions off my pistol permit.

Recommended Posts

My brother gave me a form to fill out and send my current NYS pistol permit in and get non restricted concealed carry. Filled it out put in old card and a self addressed stamped envelope. 8 days later got it in the mail. No more sportsman and employment classifications. Onondaga County where it took me 14 months to get the first one.

Congrats! Just be very thankful that you didn’t have to take the 18 hour course like some of us did.

Yes. I finally got around to applying for my pistol permit last March.

Mine was issued  in Dec,  but because it was after September 1st I was recieved an "on premises"only permit unti I get an 18 hr course.

I've had my permit for years now and it had employment, sportsman, employment. Twice employment not sure why. Anyway I'm upper management and on call 24/7 so in my mind that equates to I could carry whenever I wanted to anyway lol. I hardly ever carry but it's not NY's right to limit my constitutional right.

Now it has on it Pistol/ Semi auto rifle license

I need to do this as well. In Oneida county have to do it in person and just haven't had the time yet to wait there for 1/2 a day. They will do it but they still seem to try to make it difficult so people won't.

I have on mine hunting, fishing, hiking and Target.  The county office did issue a statement saying if you have a current permit it is now an unrestricted after the supreme court decision but it doesn't actually say that on my permit and I would rather it did. And like you I rarely carry esp with the new NY laws now.

Just another example of how dinked up NYS pistol permit laws are.  Up to each individual judge on what restrictions (if any) are applied to you.

I received my unrestricted permit went I was 21, no questions asked, no interview with judge -just a phone call "it's ready, come to the Clerk's office and pick it up".
