Doesn't seem to be a lot of ducks around this year.  I've barely seen any at my local harbor.  Some brant and lots of swans.  But, not many ducks.  Haven't been out on the South Shore in a few weeks.  Hoping the action picks up.

@virgil that is what I am hearing from my buddies as well- not many birds. @crappyice thanks for the photo shout out- the pup loves getting out but he wants a duck!  @Enigma I don’t have a canoe or boat- my buddy uses a kyack and has been getting a few birds. Picking up this sport in my 60s, I am not sure I want to add a whole additional challenge of paddling to the mix!  I love driving out on the beach and setting up on the bay side.  Beach driving ends Dec 31 on fire island so I will check out some walk in spots on north shore or the park blinds.  I don’t like guided hunts but I may do one in a marsh near cornfield just to get the boy some retrieving experience.  I know a guide who will accommodate the day being more about the boy than just killing birds and I will make that a solo hunt so as to not aggravate the killer hunters!
