Belo Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Who do you follow on YT or IG? Why do you like them? Who do you hate seeing pop up on your feed? I'm sure some of you follow nobody and don't care at all, and that's fine too. I hadn't watched any of the seekone stuff till this past weekend and I think Lee is great and their videos are fascinating. Got me thinking that I might be missing out on others as generally I don't follow anyone outside of meateater. Used to like heartland bowhunter too when I had the outdoor channel. virgil 1 Take the "Buy and plant stuff and then hunt private land" Challenge!
RocNy Sporter Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Don't really follow anyone specifically. I like to go on YouTube and do various searches, e.g. 2024deer hunting or NY deer hunting and look at videos. I like to see the amateur, self filmed stuff and I actually like to see the shots at impact and the tracking and recovery. I would rather see an amateur struggling to get a deer like most of us, than see a professional on a preserve shooting something. Also, I don't mind if the deer ends up not being a 150+ class buck; but a deer that most are happy to get, i.e. not huge. I also, check out many fishing videos the same way. I look for waters that I fish locally or for similar techniques that I'm using. crappyice, Will C, Wolc123 and 2 others 5
2BuckBizCT Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) I just can't get into watching hunting on TV/internet. Every once in a while I'll go to youtube and search around and watch some things, but that's 2-3 times per year. Recently, I saw a link to the person you mentioned I think (Lee) @Belo on bowsite. It was like an hour video, so I sped it up to make it like 10 minutes. It was about him hunting a huge buck in Ohio IIRC where there were junkies and needles everywhere etc. I liked how at the end before recovery he got the cops to come to prove everything was legit and legal. The Back 40 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I really tend to gravitate towards the hunting/cooking shows on TV like Steve Rinella's Meateater, and Feral, my kids enjoy watching those shows with me. For pure entertainment, Michael Waddell's Bone Collector. He's funny and doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. Meateater has a lot of good YT content and podcasts, they cover a broad range of topics and it's not always the same host. Robhuntandfish and Belo 2
The_Real_TCIII Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I follow a lot of local NY and Pa guys like KEO, Leatherwood, BNB Outdoors, etc along with THP and Catman. Tons of fly fishing channels too local and out west. Dead Drift Outdoors and PA Woods and Water are always on streams I frequent or want to get to RocNy Sporter and cervidchasers 2
Robhuntandfish Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I enjoy the Mossy Oak Gamekeeper podcasts. A lot of it applies more to the southern states but they have some great guests on there. A lot of wildlife biologists and it's usually interesting. I also like Meateater content and as @The Back 40 said Bone Collector and also Red Arrow is kinda funny and always struck me as some down to earth guys that hit the jackpot. Although most of their hunts are not very impressive and guided canned type. I always liked "On your own" the guy did all public land hunts but not sure he does a show anymore. I cannot stand anything with the Busbice family in it and turn it immediately. "it's pointless for humans to paint scenes of nature when they can go outside and stand in it"- Ron Swanson
Wolc123 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I like meateater the best. Just wish he liked crossbows a little more. Definitely appreciate his “surf and turf” whitetail recipe (lots of black pepper on the oysters). Old Brian and Dino are very good also, as was Robin on the old site.
Nomad Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Don’t watch any . I do enjoy boat ramp videos though . Wolc123, dbHunterNY, Robhuntandfish and 2 others 2 2 1
Otto Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I like Dr Grant woods, but he mostly concentrates on food plots and habitat improvement. I enjoy Meateater as a background show while I am doing something else. Hank Shaw does not have any shows or videos that I know of, but I read his weekly newsletter and his website is full from excellent game recipes. Andrew Zimmern has an great show on Outdoor Channel and he is on Instagram too. He is cooking game, usually over an open flame outdoor fire setup. @Robhuntandfish - be sure to look at his stuff once you get your outdoor setup completed. cervidchasers 1

Only problem I have with his are who has those ingredients/spices available all the time? Lol. But yes I love that he cooks everything outdoors. Ita actually why I wanted the new setup. grampy Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 KEO Vlogs is very good. I like the hunts with Cliff and his grampa. Down to earth, and from NY too. cervidchasers, Bolt Action and RocNy Sporter 3

We always say it takes a staff of 10-15 people to prep the shit AZ cooks and maintaining the perfect fires let alone the fact that his "game" food seem very farm raised or at least farm slaughtered. He jumped the shark a bit breaking down a whole tuna in the woods!?!! Robhuntandfish 1
Rob-c Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) I haven't watched a hunting show in 20+ years. Now way back before the internet , i couldn't wait to get my Petersons bowhunting to soak up as much info from Randy Ulmer on how to shoot / tune a bow and see what new animal Chuck Adams had hunted ( They are 2 of my favorite ) I did meet and have a great conversation with Chuck Adams ( super super nice down to earth guy , and talked to me and the wife for a good hour after we attended one of his seminars . Lee & Tiffany and Ralph & Vickie from archers choice also ( they were also very down to earth ) this is when they were all down at the great American outdoor show in PA in the early 90’s Edited December 30, 2024 by Rob-c mowin 1
Will C Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I will watch NY and PA amateur videos-KEO and Leatherwood are ones that are enjoyable to me. RocNy Sporter, cervidchasers and grampy 3
