I don't have the Nitro Fire, but I do shoot a Traditions Ultralight. Really solid and easy to use all around gun. If the NF is anything like their other models, I wouldn't hesitate.

I was thinking about the same thing @GreeneHunter, I don't have a ML, nor have I ever used one. I was looking at the Nitro Fires and it seems like an easier entry into ML hunting, and I like the Idea of being able to "unload" at the end of the day.

Every gun shop around me caries the cartridges. Not sure if they will fade away as they seem very popular.

I'd be tempted to purchase one if I was in the market.

I'm not a Black Powder guy , never have been but I'm thinking of getting into it !  I'm looking into the Nitro Fire type of gun . Anyone have experience in this ? Opinions welcome !

Heard great things but if you’re gonna dump $500+ into a ML I’d highly recommend doing a CVA Hunter or Scout smokeless conversion with Jeff Hankins at Hankins Precision. You can get a Hunter in 45-70 for $300-350 then it’s $325 for conversion and another $50-100 in misc parts like a bullet sizer and ramrod. I’ve got one and it’s deadly to 300 yards. There’s no puff of smoke or need to clean every shot and it will push a 275 grain bullet at 2500+ FPS so it’s got a ton of knock down power. They are a little more work with having to load loose powder but well worth the trade off IMO.

How's the recoil on it?

Did they legalize smokeless for muzzleloader in ny?
