Popular Post G-man Posted January 3 Popular Post Posted January 3 On new years I had a stroke. I had mild symptoms but knew something wasn't right told wife I needed to go to hospital. 40 mon from call I was in er and sent for cat scan. I had nothing show obviously. Er dr wanted to give me a clot buster that only has a 3 hour window to be administered. Within 20 min all my symptoms disappeared. Had to be kept for observation as its very strong and a fall or injury could cause internal bleeding. 24 hours later an mri showed no brain damage ( at least it showed i have a brain) i was released today with no restrictions and can return to normal activities and work.. I have a genetic blood disorder the probably killed my father and grand father in their mid 50s as well ( though they were never diagnosed) My advice is if your not feeling right in the head go get seen immediately. 3 hours is a short window but can mean life. death or disability. Lawdwaz Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Good reminder Greg, glad you’re going to be ok. A good friend had a stroke in September 2022 and is paralyzed on the right side, he’ll spend the rest of his days in a skilled nursing facility. Only 64 years old. G-man 1
nywaw Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Damn man glad you're ok! Stay on top of it with the doctors. Not a huge fan of meds but sometimes they're necessary, hopefully your genetic blood disorder can be controlled. Good luck! G-man 1

Swamp_bucks Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Glad you got in fast. Did they just diagnose you while you there with the disorder or was it previously known?

grampy Posted January 4 Posted January 4 So glad you are going to be OK! Thank you for the advice. I've been through the big C, but a stroke really scares me. If you don't mind, what were your symptoms? G-man and Bolt Action 1 1
Robhuntandfish Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Glad your ok. Pretty scary for sure. My ex wife had a stroke this spring and she has had a long road to recovery. She is 47 and was always eating right, drinking lots of water and active. You just never know. dbHunterNY Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) damn. i guess you could say that's good news. strokes are never good. not a stroke but i know a young women friend who's younger than me that had to have her whole chest cracked open. she's 40, was pretty average but then turned things around and lost weight and lived very healthy. still it happened. with her background, she blew the whistle and said something's not right. if she didn't she wouldn't be here.
