I built some wood duck boxes and put them out several years ago. I happened to put my cam in front of one over a gut pile and noticed "DEC" is stenciled on the box. Do they put that on there??

Is this on public or private land? Not sure why DEC would come on private land to stencil their name on a duck box they didn't put there?

It's possible that Dec contacted the landlord first.

I agree.  Our region 4 headquarters have been really good, any time we have contacted them with questions. Especially with regards to the Hunter Education Program. Along with some land issues. 

I don't think DEC would come on private land to stencil their name on a duck box? At one time, I think they gave away duck boxes to land owners. And you would report to them if the boxes were occupied. But even then, they wouldn't come on your land unless invited to do so. Or if a violation was reported. Then they can go anywhere. 

I wonder if it's a neighbor?

3 raccoons in one pic seems sketchy, no? I think I’ve gotten a few on cam over the last 12 years but always solo
