Keith Nehrke Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Here's my unsolicited advice lol. Protect, protect, protect!! 5' diameter welded wire cages (pro tip - don't zip tie shut to a stake, you want to open them once a season for maintenance). Metal screen buried 2" deep and 18" up the trunk to protect from rodent damage. 3' square of weed cloth at the base. Dig a wider hole than you need at planting, and don't amend the soil with mulch or anything. If you don't already know how, learn to prune fruit trees (and....make the cut...f you know, you know). These are basic rules learned through planting thousands of stems and losing soooooo many... Good luck and have fun! Trees are addictive. Moog5050 and cervidchasers 1 1
