What a cool deer, too bad it was poached.
 

On Dec. 5, ECOs ticketed a poacher for shooting a big buck from Old Johnstown Road in the village of Fonda while the deer was feeding in a pumpkin patch.NYS DEC

On Dec. 5, ECOs responded to multiple reports that a buck, well known to hunters in Fulton and Montgomery counties over the years due to its large size and unmistakable set of palmated antlers, had been taken illegally from a roadway. A suspect admitted to shooting the buck from Old Johnstown Road in the village of Fonda while the deer was feeding in a pumpkin patch around midnight. ECOs charged the poacher with the illegal take of deer, shooting on/from a roadway, hunting outside of legal hours, and Environmental Conservation Law trespass.

Not surprised.  I had a DEC officer tell me that when these cases go before a judge for sentencing, the judge has been dealing with rapists, arsonists, drug dealers, muggers, etc so when a poaching case comes up, especially to a non-hunting judge (who may have hit one with his car),  they see this as no big deal and pretty much victimless.

I agree with everything he should of gotten jail time also
