sbuff Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Did anyone make it to the Albany gun show yesterday or has plans to go today . Just wondering how it was
mowin Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Didn't even see any advertising for it. Or are they even allowed to advertise in NY? grampy 1
grampy Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I have gone in the past. But I also didn't know it was happening this weekend. mowin 1
sbuff Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 I think it took on a new promoter this year . I only saw it advertised in one publication. I liked going in the past to look ,not many deals found but I did enjoy it https://gunshowtrader.com/gun-shows/albany-gun-show-3/ grampy 1

I never bought a gun there. But usually picked up some odds and ends to take home. And usually ran into someone I hadn't seen in a while. Maybe next year we can plan a meet and greet? sbuff 1

Haven't been to the Albany gun show in probably 15 hrs. Never really seen any good deals on firearms, in fact I think the prices were on the high side. sbuff and grampy 1 1

But like I said, always found a couple incidentals like cleaning kits and spare magazine's for some of the guns I have. Splitear, mowin and sbuff 3
PraiseDiana Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I was there! A few neat/rare guns but no deals. It's a good way to get hard to find ammo. I'm in the market for a Beretta 92FS and found a 92 but not FS variant. Definitely worth the $10 to poke around. Splitear and grampy 2
Splitear Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) I’ve enjoyed the few times I’ve been and end up meeting at least a couple of interesting folks. I coon fingered the 10 bore percussion gun that I have and ended up meeting with the guy a few weeks later to buy it. He took me through his collection at his home and is going to bring some of his guns (including an original F&I war gun) to show my 4-H kids. I’d have never made that connection without a stop into the show. Edited January 27 by Splitear Next Time, grampy and mowin 3
Trial153 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Haven’t been to it in years. The last couple times I went the prices were insane. It’s nice to be able to lay your hands on things, but i couldn’t see paying huge premiums for it… grampy 1 You could leave life right now. dbHunterNY Posted February 4 Posted February 4 there's been a few different ones here in Albany I think but I've never been. I've always heard prices were high but it's the place to find hard to find stuff like others have said in here. I never know when they are unless it's an email from a local rod and gun club. their event promotion kind of sucks i suppose. lol

Wouldn't surprise me if NY has some law banning gun shows/stores from advertising. Can't remember the last time I seen or heard a advertisement for a gun store on TV or radio. grampy 1

grampy Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Years ago, you would see advertisements on the local TV stations, and they'd be on the radio too. Have not seen that in years. So it certainly wouldn't surprise me that NYS passed a law in the middle of the night,( they are good at doing that) to do away with anything bringing attention to firearms. dbHunterNY and mowin 2
