Nomad Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Just rant and tips for those who go visit folks there . Ok last year we rented for five weeks and had visitors for over half the time ,now our daughter and son in law is one thing , but we told friends in Knoxville they could stop by , they came for 8 nights ,generally people, would do 4 or 5 nights ,they never asked . We visit people in Fla before we go to the rental , 3 nights max . My sister in law comes each year ,ok she doesn’t have much money so I accommodate her vacation . Last year she said she arrives at 9:30 on the first , i said we’ll be there at 1:00 , it’s check in day which is 3:00 . She never asked dates ,time ect . This year we heard nothing from her ,I book a year out ,already booked next year , so two days ago she’s says she coming wtf we had plans . keep in mind if you expect your hosts to pick you up at the airport . I will only do Sarasota as it’s close but I’ve had “ guests “ fly in as far as 75 miles away because THEY save a couple bucks ,I no longer do that . Also her departure is right is when we go to the Sarasota farm market , nobody asks they just come . Then consider we have to wash sheets between guests, clean the room ,bathroom , buy groceries, booze , etc ok you bought us one dinner and your week cost us $1500-$2000 lol . I try to be a good host , but just stop and think and perhaps ask your host what dates are good and how long , and get yourself to and from the airport . Oh and by the way I drink Gin , and making coffee one morning and some ice cubes Would be dandy . First Light, Bond,James Bond, ATbuckhunter and 5 others 7 1

mowin Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) We've been invited many times to visit friends that are vacationing in warmer States for a month or more. They are on vacation, I wouldn't want to bother them on a trip they have been looking forward to. I shouldn't be in your plans for more than meeting out to dinner a couple times. Oh.... Address please and best dates to visit. Edited February 26 by mowin cervidchasers, Nomad, grampy and 1 other 2 1 1
