Took a Hard Fall last week on light snow covering a sheet of ice. TG for my background and the 4 Basic Breakfalls, I Taught in the Dojo.  I was able to keep the side of my head from hitting the ice.

If any here seek martial arts training- make sure they teach Basic Breakfalls.  Like Riding a Bike- you never forget.

Both Legs shot out in a instant. Breakfall or not- hurt bad.

No doubt it hurt bad! I've taken a couple spills on the ice too. Luckily I didn't end up in the ER. Same deal, I went down hard before I even knew what happened.

Last Friday, 2am in the woods having a conversation with some coyotes and while moving closer to them on a woods road.....feet out from under me and slammed right on my back. of course I protected the rifle and expensive optics. lol My pack broke most of the fall. There I am looking up at the stars, feeling the impact of course and wondering exactly how far the truck was from me. LOL

Did the same this on a rip stick last year at 54. Out from under me onto hard concrete. I will say being in good shape helps. Strong core muscles help me keep my head from smacking the ground both times. Of course knowing to spread any impact is key too.

Took a similar fall last week.  Went out to the truck and both feet shot out from under me in a millisecond.  Ended up halfway under the truck.  Instinctively new to keep my head up.

Tail bone still hurts, won't post the bruise I didn't know I had until my wife asked WTF happened.

Tuff guy me, acted like what do you mean?  Lol

You know your getting old when we start comparing falls and what hurts and doesn't after.
So last week after we got snow out shoveling the side walk and i was on my back before i knew what happened. My wife stoped running the snowblower ( she loves running that thing ) and through her big grin are you ok. I wasn't bad but i had some pain in my left knee replacement after getting up . Thats leg / foot that went out from under me on the ice , good thing  they make them implants  rugged . Had swelling and stiffness in it for a few days.

Yup- once you hit 40- little by little  things will crop up. You hit 50- you are very aware of it. 60 and above- even more so.

I still have a Stretching routine going. Still able to sit the way the Older generation of Japanese  do.  That helps keep the knee joint supple.
