DirtTime Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 On our errands this morning I decided to stop and see if I could find a grip for a rifle and some soft tip .223/5.56 ammo. I stopped in two places and wasn't happy with a what I heard about ammo background checks. Stop one, the sales person was talking to another customer and said the check would cost the customer around $35, the other while I was cashing out told me $50-75. That's beyond insane! At first I thought both were just trying to be funny, until I remembered that many gun shops in this state charge $50-100 for a firearm transfer that's only supposed to be $10 max per the SAFE Act. Add into that that there's a proposed bill floating around about only allowing a person to buy 2 times what their firearm will hold (legally) in 120 day period. I pretty sure I'm done buying ammo in NY. I never thought I'd see the day when I said it sucks to be stuck here and even the ADK's I love so much don't help my growing dislike of NY.
Nomad Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Good thing I’ve got a few thousand rounds for my handguns and modern sporting rifles and a few hundred for my hunting guns . Sad that’s so few here payed any attention and stocked up when the warning signs were all apparent. you can’t order online here anymore for the most part so I guess you’ll go to Penn? Or Vermont? The ass end of the Subaru will be dragging when we return from Fla in April …. The shop there gave me a bunch of patches ,stickers, gun lube samples, some Jimi John sandwiches and helped me carry my purchases to the car ha ha ! NY sucks green donkey di…s Buckmaster7600, Ogee, Rob-c and 2 others 5
DirtTime Posted January 22, 2023 Author Posted January 22, 2023 I have a few boxes left for each rifle and the only shotgun I have left. I have a feeling a few shops are going to go belly up over this. I realize gun sales are still up, but what happens when the system goes rabid and tells someone the gun they just got OK'd for but they can't but the ammo for it. It's going to happen.
grampy Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 The anti gun crowd knows they will never get us to give up our guns. They also know if there is no ammo to shoot them, they still win. The_Real_TCIII and Nomad 2
Buckmaster7600 Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Ray Charles saw this coming. Thats the reason I don’t buy ammo by boxes I buy by the case. I’ll probably die with a lot of ammo but I’ll never be without. “there’s a fine line between being a hoarder and being prepared.” Nomad 1
DirtTime Posted January 22, 2023 Author Posted January 22, 2023 I had to replace s few boxes I used to sight in a few new scopes, and a couple misses at yotes. Lately if I use the ammo I try to replace it. I agree on the be prepared thing. Always have, I just don't broadcast things like some feel a need to do. What I have is none of the internets business. That's not directed at anyone in particular, I just chuckle at all those videos of guys showing their bunkers, guns and ammo stashes, etc. I saw this coming a while ago too, but like many I hoped we would be able to get the people making this crap up out of offices, last November had a good chance for that. But, it's pretty clear NY is lost. Nomad and f3cbboy 2

WtF wake up fellas , there was one guy on a local Sunday AM attorney’s show, asking about needing a permit for buying a semi auto rifle , like it was news to him ! So many have their heads in the sand . Speaking of sand when we return from Fla in April the ass end of the Subaru will be sagging … I’ve got boxes of ammo for calibers I don’t even own …. You guys can buy them at a premium later on . Buckmaster7600 1

Unconstitutional in my opinion. Think they won't use it against you? Think they won't keep a file on you? These posters are the same guys that say it's none of the government's business what I have. You make it public, then the government has it. The first rule of security is you do not talk about (or show) your security. NYRturkeycall 1
DirtTime Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 The social media account thing is state wide for CCW, but to my knowledge not to but ammo. Imagine paying $100 for a box of .22LR. Or $200 for a box of .308. Yeah, they can suck a dead donkeys di.......
