As an IT nerd:. He's just doing his job as moderator.  I don't think he's emotionally invested in the site, but forums etiquette is you don't post links advertising other sites.  I think he's as disappointed in the site owner as everyone else.  We've seen more support here in the past 3 days than that site got in 3 years.

Agreed, I don't hold it against him. He and Eddie have been put in a tough spot the past year. I hope they both make the move at some point.

i agree.  hes a good guy just sticking up for his.  Nothing wrong with that and I am sure he also was frustrated.

it's not childish at all. While he's not paid, it's his job/role to moderate the site. If someone started a 3rd hunting forum for NY the mods here would do the same thing.

Agree that's a terrible ad.  This site will have ads at some point but there surely will not be one there or anywhere that blocks functionally, access or relative site content.

So as Matt and Rusty can confirm, we went through more or less this exact same thing a bunch of years ago now. In the end, at least 75% or more from the old site migrated to NJWW. A few stayed and now enjoy Chinese spam and posts selling junk all day. Some still post on both sites. But most left and are happy with the newer site. 
 

The mods over there have to protect what’s left until the owner decides what he wants to do with the site. We understand that. In time, those left over there will wonder where everyone went and find their way here. It took us well over a year for that to happen. We were called “the snoozer site” at first. Now it’s lopsided badly for our site over that old one. I’d expect to see similar here with the NY site.
