I just found a extra flyer to a 1988 Arm Wrestling Tournament, I entered. Brought back memories!!

I was 28 back in 1988 and,I entered the " 201-220lb weight class. Alot of BIG Dudes were there. I thought,I was ready though even though,I had not practiced any Arm Wrestling since High School. I was Curling 145lbs for a good 10 reps on the "ez" curl bar as strict as,I could.

So,I lost to the eventual Winner of this Class in my 1st match. It went less then 1 second. I did not Flex up fast enough.

Double Elimination this Tournament  was. 10 minutes  later,I was up again. My 2nd opponent had 19" Arms easy. This time,I Flexed up earlier.

And go!  We had a good 30 second battle at the Top. And finally his Arm started to go down.  I Won.

Another 10 minutes go by and ,I am facing my 3rd opponent.  This Struggle was Longer and finally,I brought his Arm Down. I Won.

I didn't know how much,I had left for my 4th opponent. GO! I struggled at the Top for a good 20 seconds before slowly Losing to this Guy.

Hell of a Fun Event! It was Filmed too. I would love to get ahold of that Tape today!

 Hope Y'ALL Enjoyed  the story.

Third place, 1986 Vermont State. Still have the trophy 🏆

Not sure what place,I got. I did pretty good without any Arm Wrestling practice. Another exercise,I did was Pullups on a wide horizontal  bar and releasing one hand at the Top position and lowered with 1 Arm and alternating hands. Those slow 1 arm negatives were Tough.

In 89 or 90 I trained at Silvers Gym. The owner Brad silver was one of the top super heavy arm wrestlers in the world.  6’5” maybe 350 and relatively skinny legs.  Looked like a lumberjack before huge beards were in.  Crazy strong shoulders and biceps.  He would barbell curl 315 for reps and 150lb dumbbells.     Saw him get stuck squatting 315 so he just military pressed it and put it in the rack. Died early.  Too much anadrol I believe.

Thanks for sharing Brian. A few guys that,I trained with have passed on. They were on the Steroids  for too long a period .  I was Tempted to take Steroids as well- but never did when,I was Much Younger. Probably  one of my better life decisions.
