Lawdwaz Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 You feel the earthquake at 6:15am this morning? I sure did......I was awake, laying in bed reading a news app with my wife beside me, also awake. At first I quickly thought thunder but then the window rattled, the bed really shook and the rolling boom was very different. We jumped out of bed and looked out the window, thinking at that point either a vehicle hit out house, plane crashed (as the crow flies we aren't far from the local airport) or a natural gas explosion but nothing was seen. I did what had to be done and took a wizzzzz. The radio was on WBEN (the alarm/radio goes off at 5:50am work days) and within a couple they said that it was an earthquake! I felt one in 1989 locally also but that was only felt lightly, nothing remotely close to today's. No big deal I guess but nonetheless, it shook the crap out of lots of local people and made for an interesting morning. mowin, Robhuntandfish and Doebuck1234 3

2BuckBizCT Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 It's a weird feeling for sure. In 2011, I was in my office working on 44th floor in NYC (times square area) and midday we had an earthquake. My office had floor to ceiling windows. They were moving and I thought I was getting dizzy or something, then I realized other people started talking about feeling it too. We all assumed a bomb went off in times square or something, but it was quickly announced as an earthquake over the loud speakers. I think it was a 6 magnitude if I remember correctly. mowin 1
Bucksnbows Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and earthquakes were very frequent. I recall lots of pictures falling at times and books off bookshelves. I was too young to be scared. But it’s a very unique experience to be certain! mowin 1 "A sinking fly is closer to Hell" - Anonymous https://www.troutscapes.com https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
mowin Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Never had the pleasure of experiencing one. Has to be a confusing few seconds until you figure out what the heck is actually going on.

Keith Nehrke Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 I was in the middle of working out and thought I felt something, but didn't register it between the sweat and pain lol. Got the wife right out of bed though.
