Probably too late for todays boil but a rudimentary lid fabricated out of two pieces of tin foil will speed the job up considerably. (You might have done this, I don’t know?) 2012-Taco 1

dbHunterNY Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 i've done them and they're an absolute PITA. best way i've come to realize is a couple friends use an electrical turkey roaster. no flame to babysit. simmer away and come back later. easier to not put too much heat to it.
dbHunterNY Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 plus my turkey cooker is newer and has a stupid safety solenoid on it. if you're not there to push the button every 10 minutes or so it'll shutoff the propane. if the batteries die it'll shutoff the propane.

Caveman Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I've done my own euros with good results. A few years ago, I got an electric bucket heater from TSC, like this one: https://www.acehardware.com/departments/lawn-and-garden/farm-and-ranch-supplies/animal-feeders-and-waterers/74140?x429=true&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=CjwKCAiA3aeqBhBzEiwAxFiOBlvASbEdYhBTmqFwVL7HYIGXoPE5pd4OYeMKjZHR350QDc7F8nclbRoCND8QAvD_BwE I put that in a rubber feed bucket with the skinned head and it simmers at a low enough temperature that I can just leave it until it's done without worrying. After that, I soak in ZEP degreaser, then mix up a paste of powdered and lotion hair bleach. Paint that on and leave overnight. Rinse in the morning and you're good to go. The_Real_TCIII Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 Sneaking up on four hours of simmering and Ill see how easily everything comes off
crappyice Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I like to throw some Dawn dish soap in my boil to help the degreasing. Needle nose pliers, 3" knife not too sharp, and sawzall for brain removal are game changers The_Real_TCIII and Red 2
The_Real_TCIII Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 Well, fail so far. Nothings "falling off", its cooked to it. Ill give it another hour then find a beetle guy lol
