The first Buffalo blizzard of 22 stranded me in southern CA, causing me to miss my first opening day in 41 years. The only consolation was that I was able work on my tan that afternoon and catch a nice spotted bay bass that morning, in SanDiego harbor, on one of my hand tied bucktail jigs.
I didn’t get back out hunting at home in NY until Thanksgiving morning. What I thought was a mature doe, turned out to me a spike buck with a 3/4” spike on one side and 2-3/4 on the other.
