The fur I sent to the tannery arrived back yesterday!  They (Moyles) did a great job but the costs keep going up every year.  I self tanned some of my fur this year…the leather on thin hides like fox are much easier to break and turned out close in quality to the fur from the tannery (I.e., “garment tanned”).

All of the fur in the photo was from my recent ADK trapping trip (I just pulled it out of the very small box it was shipped in so I need to fluff them up a bit).  The blond coyote is just over 5 ft from end of tail to nose and the otter is 4 ft.  I skinned out the claws on the coyote, grey fox, and otter, and also finished (cleaned and whitened) their skulls.

Very happy with the fur!!

Coyote was a male…I have the penis bone cleaned and whitened…don’t want to waste any part of the critter if I can help it (I also keep all the glands for lures).
