All my buddy's efforts (and expense!) seems to be paying offer keeping the deer out has been a huge help to pumpkins acrually growing. Also managed a quick oyster mushroom and shed harvest!!! dbHunterNY Posted September 27, 2023 Share Posted September 27, 2023 we have a 1..5 acre pumpkin patch at the farm, right out in front of the my parents house. it's fenced in with a high solar electric fence. it wouldn't provide a lot of sustained tonage but deer seem to like browsing on it. during growing as @crappyice said. not sure his loss but half the pumpkin patch was eaten for the pumpkins (and gourds) during growing and once they matured and turned orange. what remains was just disked up and cereal grains and buck wheat will be planted. then that's disked under in the spring. back when it was way out back, I can tell you moose enjoyed them all the same. grampy, Robhuntandfish and corydd7 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
