Acorns Dropping

I was out over the weekend bringing in firewood and could hear acorns falling. They're quite small and still green, so I'm not sure if they're falling prematurely or what the deal is?

1st year red oak.. bugs/birds. Drought. To wet. all possibilities to mKe em drop early

Reds are loaded in my area.  Tons of small ones one the ground.
