Has anyone ever used or have any experience with Whitetail Logic Habitat Consultants ? I believe they are in the Binghamton area. Any input on them or another one in that area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have property near Binghamton but never heard of them.

I used this company several years ago for a Timber Stand Improvement project.  They were very knowledgeable and great to work with.

Select harvest won’t add any significant deer habitat unless your property is mostly older growth forest. You will likely want timber stand improvements (TSI) where the best poles (trees) are left and the poorer poles around them are cut for firewood or girdled and left for woodpecker habitat or a combination of the two. Select harvest is cutting down your best trees for the mill. It helps raise funds to do your TSI.

The timber stand improvement will be part of the selective harvest on certain portions of the property
