Bucksnbows
@Rusty and yours truly will be hosting an October bear hunt for archery (includes crossbows) all six days with the last three days also being open for muzzleloader if you want to go that route. My best guess is week of October 7th through the 12th which is a Monday through Saturday. Below is a link for Rusty’s post on the NJ site. We need fewer bears in northern NJ as they continue to expand in numbers throughout the state, but especially in northwest parts of the state. https://www.njwoodsandwater.com/forums/topic/74121-plenty-of-bears-for-the-ny-guys/#comment-965560 Ncountry, grampy, Robhuntandfish and 10 others 11 2 "A sinking fly is closer to Hell" - Anonymous https://www.troutscapes.com https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

nywaw
Really cool! Very nice of Rusty and Brian to organize this for the NY guys and gals on here! Win/Win for sure, as north NJ needs a reduction in bears! Good luck to all going! Looking forward to October's hunt report! Bucksnbows, mowin, Robhuntandfish and 3 others 3 2

Here's the state website as I don't know offhand. Bear permits for residents are a whopping $2, but that was set low intentionally so that the anti bear hunters couldn't say it was a money grab by the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife. https://dep.nj.gov/njfw/hunting/non-resident-hunting-in-new-jersey/ Yes, we can bait in NJ and most of us do, but you must be 100 yards away when hunting. We set up on trails coming to and from a bait barrel. I have a picture of my one barrel that is at least 15 years old now and chained to a tree in a quiet area of the property in my first post. With guests this fall, I will start a second barrel on the opposite side of the property as we have so many bears, it will ensure one is nearly always on a barrel all day and night. I had 7 unique bears on my barrel last fall going into our October season, killed one ten minutes into the first morning of the 6 day hunt, and later that same day had other bears on cam at the same area. I started baiting only 2 weeks prior to the season. dbHunterNY
it would depend on my work load at the office if I can commit that week. definitely interested and this is very generous of you both. i know @Rusty hates people but it'd great to meet him. Looks like Nonres bow license is $135.50. Bear permit is $2 but zone specific. where would we be and zone would it be for? Bucksnbows

ATbuckhunter
Still interested, just need to know the dates for my bird hunting/trout trip out west this year. Once I do and if there is no conflict, count me in. Bucksnbows

I need to look at the map on something bigger than this IPhone to confirm both Rusty and I are in Zone 2 for bear. Will confirm later.
