Otto Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 (edited) For the few bucks a bait store charges to sharpen them, I have always gone that route. Some of them have an odd curve to them and are not easy to follow. If you don't have a local store, most of the manufacturers will sharpen them as well. If you have a Nils ice auger, that is even more difficult and even harder to find someone that can sharpen it. The last time I sent my Nils head to someone in Minnesota. I think it was $30 back and forth. Edited December 28, 2022 by Otto Bucksnbows and crappyice 2

Meatball Posted February 2 Posted February 2 So you know when you buy something to get ready for next time.....and then you can't remember where you put it!!!! Seems like blades are out of stock everywhere. I did find a shop in Lake George ( his website) that sharpens blades. Fish307.com Looks like $18-$37 depending on your auger. Any input on sharpening my own? I watched videos that say I'll screw it up and ones that say it's easy!?

Yellowpike Posted February 2 Posted February 2 its depends on the blade if there straight blades there easy you only sharpen one side of the blade if there the curved blades there harder ive sharpen both not that hard to do with the right Equipment Buckmaster7600 1
Buckmaster7600 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) I use my augers a lot more than the average guy and have given up on trying to sharpen them. I have a few sets of spares and once I have a couple dull sets I send them out to be sharpened. I’m 10 minutes from fish307 and won’t use them because I’ve had bad luck with their blade sharpening. I usually change my blades 2 to 3 times a winter. This is the guy I’ve used for the last few years. https://www.thebladedr.com/ice-auger-blade-sharpening Edited February 3 by Buckmaster7600 Meatball and Yellowpike 2
