Splitear Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) With the new forum, I figured I’d start cataloging some of the activities we’re doing with our 4-H Homeschool Muzzleloading program. This week we learned about reading game sign, setup one trail cameras, cut cleaning patches and measured patterns for ordering leather for possibles bags. Splitear Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 Not my kids (even though I call them as much). My girls have a few years before they can do this with me. I work for 4-H, and this homeschool group is a fun work program a volunteer and I put together last year. Rusty, Bolt Action, DirtTime and 3 others 6
Splitear Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 Here’s some from our October meeting. Range Safety being led by some of our veteran students, and the first shots of the 4-H year. Bolt Action, Rusty, fletchny11 and 4 others 7
TACC Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 I think this is great, What is the youngest age you have in your group. I'm trying to get my 7 year old grandson doing this type of stuff Splitear 1

We can’t shoot with any kids younger than 12. 8 and above can do archery and air rifle, but anything with firearms is 12 and older. Rusty and TACC 2
Splitear Posted November 17, 2022 Author Posted November 17, 2022 (edited) Today at our muzzleloading class, we did zero muzzleloading. First thing, the kids got to check their trail camera photos. A few small bucks and does, raccoons, squirrels and a stoat. They loved it! Then, half the group took over Dutch Oven pizza duty, and the other half started in on dissecting owl pellets. The kids loved making the pizza and learning about the development of the Dutch oven. They were all very surprised that their "beef" pizza was actually venison All rodents in the pellets, and some of the kids were excited to take the bones home with them to show their parents and siblings. Overall, another fantastic day with this great group of kids! Edited November 17, 2022 by Splitear TimberGhost, Rusty, DirtTime and 6 others 9
